In our culture special importance is given to prayers. Whenever we fail in life or feel stressed we tend to turn to God but we need to understand why and for what are we praying!
Why do we pray?
Actually, prayers mean to acknowledge the supreme power and surrender in front of him. To accept that whatever he does is for our good and to give him gratitude for everything we have.
But unfortunately, in today’s time, most of us pray out of fear or to achieve something. Either we wish the lord to grant our wish or we are scared because of diseases, poverty, etc where we want the lord to secure us. We keep making deals with God as if we are doing business. We try to bribe him for doing our work which is not the way it should be.
Don’t you think that the creator of this universe already has everything and does not need our offerings if they are done with any motive and expectations in return? This should not be the basis of our prayer.
Prayer should be out of love and devotion. We should never put any conditions on the almighty. We should without question accept what he gives and continue to give our gratitude to him for that.
Love is the purest form of devotion and hence our prayers should never be out of fear or desires.
If we are devoted to the almighty why do we need to pray daily?
When we pray we acknowledge the fact that we are a part of the almighty “we are an Atma and a part of Paramatma” and hence we will not do anything unrighteous. All of us know that there is a supreme power that runs everything around us and bows down to him and gives our gratitude.
But like a clean utensil gets dirty again when used, the same way while busy in our daily lives we forget our real purpose of life, i.e, to connect to the Paramatma. Hence when we pray daily we get clean of all our negative thoughts and also give our gratitude for everything that happens in our life. Prayers make us strong and show us the right direction in life.
We all need to understand one thing that we pray to make ourselves strong. To remind ourselves that the power above is protecting us always. Hence never pray with a motive that is selfish. Just thank God for whatever you have and he will give you more n more.
